Import guides / Robinhood
Robinhood does not have a download button on the positions screen. Instead you ask it to generate an activity report, wait a moment, and download that. The report is the good one anyway — it carries your full history rather than a snapshot.
Export your transaction history
Start here rather than with the positions file. A list of holdings tells FolioBright what you own today; the transaction history tells it what you paid and when, which is what real cost basis, time-weighted return and money-weighted return are built from.
- Open the Robinhood app, or sign in on the web.
- Tap the account icon, then Reports and statements.
- Under account activity reports, choose Reports, then Generate new report.
- Set the date range to cover everything, and include every transaction type — orders, dividends, crypto and transfers.
- Confirm and generate. It is usually ready in a few minutes, occasionally up to a day when they are busy.
- Download the CSV, or use the share option to email it to yourself.
Export your current positions
Optional, and useful mainly as a check: import the transactions first, then compare the share counts FolioBright shows against this file to confirm nothing was missed.
- The same Reports and statements screen holds your monthly account statements as PDFs.
- Those are useful for checking a share count against a specific month end.
- There is no separate positions CSV — the activity report is the export.
What FolioBright reads
The importer matches your header row automatically, so normally you do not have to think about this. These are the columns it looks for in a Robinhood export.
| Column in your export | What FolioBright does with it |
|---|---|
Activity Date | when it happened |
Trans Code | Robinhood's short codes — BTO, STC, SPL, SLIP and the rest |
Instrument | the ticker; for options, the contract is described in the neighbouring text |
Quantity | shares, contracts or coin amount |
Price | execution price |
Amount | cash moved |
Things it handles for you
Those short codes are the whole game. Robinhood writes BTO, STO, BTC and STC for opening and closing option trades, OEXP for an expiry and OASGN for an assignment. FolioBright reads each one properly, so an expired worthless call closes the position instead of leaving a ghost holding on your books.
Option contracts appear as text like TSLA 1/16/2026 Call $1,300.00, which is parsed into strike and expiry rather than treated as an unrecognised symbol.
Stock lending payments — Robinhood's SLIP rows — count as income, not as money you deposited.
The IRA match is return, not contribution. Robinhood's 1–3% match is cash you did not put in, so FolioBright credits it as performance and keeps it out of your contribution totals. It shows as MATCH in the ledger. A match that gets clawed back later is money out, and is recorded that way rather than as negative income.
Crypto comes through in the same file and is booked alongside your equities, so the allocation chart reflects everything you own rather than just the stock half.
Bringing it into FolioBright
- Open FolioBright and choose the account the file belongs to, or create one with Add account.
- Click Import transactions and drop the CSV in.
- Check the column mapping. FolioBright reads the header row and fills it in for you; the preset for this broker is below if you ever need to set it by hand.
- Review the preview. Anything it could not read is listed separately rather than imported quietly.
- Import. Prices, returns and allocation update as soon as it lands.

Nothing to install
FolioBright reads the file in your browser and stores the result in your own account. There is no brokerage login to hand over, no read-only credential, and no third-party aggregator sitting between you and your holdings.
